Rural Mobile Broadband

Vodafone is planning to take over the Mobile Broadband in Italy by investing €1 Billion for enhancing the coverage in its rural areas in the coming 3- 4 years. Looks like they are actually going to work towards the coverage and finally that advertisement of the pug won’t seem untrue.

According to Vodafone, this plan would help in enabling access to high internet speed more economically in rural areas of Italy. They are planning to lay fibres in those rural areas to get them better connectivity even as the discussion continues in Italy for the best ways to connect these remote villages with the World economically through internet and Mobile Broadband. Vodafone also cited that around 7 million people or nearly 12% of the population doesn’t have an access to high speed internet connection in this era when the internet services are considered as essential and necessary factor in the World to survive! In their estimation, about 1,800 Italian municipalities are not familiar with broadband services. Mobile broadband is something they are leading and now with this they would literally be ruling in Italy with Fast web and Wind hand in hand.

With this plan, Vodafone will spread over with this Mobile Broadband coverage; it will be for nearly 1000 Italian villages and towns over the span of three years starting early January 2011. They offer download rate of 14.4 mbps currently to the operational areas and by 2011 the speed will be upgraded to 42 mbps and by 2012 as high as 84 mbps.

Unlike the failure attempt they made earlier this year when Telecom Italia refused to join the plan Vodafone and Fast web and Wind, Italy's No. 2 broadband, made to roll out a €2.5 billion fibre-optic network in Italy, this will work out well, hopefully!
